Best Music Education Community since 2003

Despite increasing standards required for inclusion on the NAMM Foundation's Best Communities for Music Education list, the Bay Village City School District has once again been so honored for its exemplary music program. We are among just 476 districts nationwide to achieve the designation recognizing an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.

Music instructors bringing out the best in our students are Darren Allen (Bay High instrumental), Mark Awad (Bay Middle instrumental), Dr. E. James Kotora (Normandy music), Elaine Dwyer (Normandy music), Carrie Engelbrecht (Westerly vocal), Devon Gess (Bay High vocal), Heidi Herczeg (Bay Middle vocal), Jeffrey Schimelpfenig (Westerly strings), and Carrie Singler (Bay High and Bay Middle instrumental).

Bay High Boys Varsity Basketball team had a record-breaking season. For the first time in the school's history, the team went to compete at the state-level Final Four in its division.

Reflecting the historic nature of the competition, the Rockets were given a district-wide, K-12 send off. First, they walked through Bay High corridors led by the marching band. Then, their bus rolled past Westerly Elementary, Bay Middle School and Normandy Elementary students lining the streets to wish the team luck. The entire community shared in the pride of their achievement.

Accolades for BHS Key Club

Bay High Key Clubbers prove themselves each year at their Ohio District Leadership Conference, which is equivalent to a state competition. As usual, our students won many accolades for their projects and service. In addition, our students played key leadership roles. The event was organized and run by event co-chair Lieutenant Governor, Annamarie McGuire, with Ohio Governor Laura Colagiovanni presiding over the event. More in this video.

Water safety confirmed for our schools

The Bay Village City School District recently had water in all five school buildings tested to insure that the drinking water was safe. Results show no detectable levels of lead in any of the samples and only trace amounts of copper, which is considered normal.

Superintendent Clint Keener said he asked that the testing be done because many reports in the national news media were showing that lead levels in water were a problem in many schools. "This information can give 'peace of mind' for our parents and employees," he said.
